Since my childhood I was passionate about dinosaurs and science. My dream was to become a paleontologist, just like Dr. Grant (Jurassic Park, 1993). I insisted on it until I entered college, when I had my first contact with cancer biology. It really surprised me to find so great a complexity in this kind of research, so I liked it a lot. Since then, this began to be my main field of study. I graduated in Biological Sciences at the University of Brasília in 2013 and just finished my master's in Health Sciences (August, 2016). During the last course I had to use some software to analyze my data and data available at online platforms (which consisted mainly of gene expression, copy-number alterations, mutations and survival times) and found that the most often used softwares required the purchase of a very expensive license. Despite it no one really paid for them (yeah...). So I remembered that I once heard about a software called R that could be useful for statistics and was free to use. I gave it a shot and "vois là": I simply found myself immersed in it for I couldn't stop studying and being surprised with the sundry possibilities it opened to my data analysis process. Now I am a biologist and R programmer.

Christian

In 2010 my life changed completely. Though I considered myself a christian, I found that it really wasn't the case. Facing a troubled time and thinking that christian religion didn't make any sense, I almost decided leaving the church to experiment all freedom that was offered on the outside. I wasn't counting with the fact that God was indeed real and he could reveal himself to me, which did happen. In the words of John Newton: I "(...) was blind but now I see". Six years have passed and I learned a lot from the Bible. It's been a great journey learning how evil men can be for we all have not observed our Creator's will and how good God is proving this sending us his Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the debt that was ours to pay. But this journey was not just about learning but also about knowing God personally and being guided by him in all my ways.
